Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport Main Runway Now Ready for Airbus A380 Landings

Karachi (HRNW) — The main runway at Jinnah International Airport is now fully equipped to accommodate the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380. Following the completion of its upgradation, Runway R25 is set to host the first landing by a private airline flight.

The upgradation project was completed within the scheduled 18 months, and the runway’s classification has now been upgraded to Code 4F, enabling it to handle large and heavy aircraft operations.

With this enhancement, the runway is also fully prepared to facilitate large cargo aircraft movements.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) successfully conducted the first test landing on January 3, 2026. Following the trial, the first official flight to land on the upgraded runway was greeted with a ceremonial water salute.
