Barring PTI from Election Campaigning is Open Pre-Poll Rigging, Says Chairman Barrister Gohar

GILGIT-BALTISTAN (HRNW) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has stated that restricting Tehreek-e-Insaf from running its election campaign amounts to blatant pre-poll rigging.

While addressing a corner meeting in Gilgit-Baltistan, Barrister Gohar remarked that individuals who have already faced defeat in their own respective constituencies are now arriving to solicit votes from the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. However, he asserted that the self-respecting people of Gilgit-Baltistan will reject such elements and their narrative.

He further emphasized that preventing PTI party leaders and Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) from holding public rallies, processions, and electoral activities—and even forcibly expelling them from the province—is a flagrant violation of the Constitution and constitutes a systematic conspiracy against democracy.

The PTI Chairman noted that the opposition’s performance over the past four years has been solely focused on finding any means possible to block Tehreek-e-Insaf from achieving electoral victory. He maintained, however, that the public will no longer fall for such tactics.

Barrister Gohar warned that if PTI’s alleged political isolation is not brought to an end, the party leadership will be compelled to consider alternative options, including a boycott of the assemblies. He concluded that if conditions do not change, the option of stepping out of the system entirely could also come under consideration.
