Washington (HRNW)- US Secretary of Defense and War Pat Hegseth praised the military personnel involved in the conflict and lauded President Trump for what he described as a historic success against Iran.
At a Pentagon press conference, Hegseth stated that Iran’s government has now shifted toward negotiations and confirmed that the US has always maintained the condition that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons. He added that Iran’s air force, navy, and nuclear capabilities were severely damaged, and claimed that Iran itself requested the ceasefire, which Trump acted on mercifully.
Hegseth described the two-week ceasefire as an opportunity for real peace and a genuine agreement, while emphasizing that the US military remains on alert and can immediately resume operations if necessary. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Keane, also addressed the press regarding military readiness and strategic objectives.
