Karachi Police Arrest Suspect in Robbery Murder, Detain Four Afghan Nationals After Encounter

Karachi (HRNW)- Karachi police have arrested the suspect accused of killing a citizen during a robbery attempt and detained four Afghan nationals following a police encounter in separate operations across the city.

According to police, Pirabad Police arrested Farhan alias Maga, son of Muhammad Zada, who is accused of shooting and killing Ibrahim Kelari on May 23, 2026, after the victim resisted a robbery. A case was registered at Pirabad Police Station under FIR No. 208/2026 under Sections 397, 302, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastoi said that police recovered an illegal weapon with ammunition, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle used in the crime from the suspect’s possession. He added that the accused is a habitual offender who had previously been arrested in four criminal cases registered at Pirabad and Mominabad police stations and had served jail time. The suspect has now been handed over to the investigating authorities after registration of another case.

In a separate operation, Firozabad Police arrested four suspects, including two who were injured during an exchange of fire, near the FTC area. Police recovered four illegal weapons, ammunition, and two brand-new 125cc motorcycles from their possession.

According to SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh, the suspects were allegedly involved in robbing citizens on Tariq Road when a police patrol reached the scene. The suspects allegedly opened indiscriminate fire and attempted to flee, leading to a chase and a gun battle near FTC, where all four were arrested. The two injured suspects were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Police said that all four arrested suspects are Afghan nationals, and their identities and previous criminal records are currently being verified.
