Sadiq Khan Nominated to UK House of Lords as Prime Minister Starmer Announces New Life Peers

London (HRNW)- British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced a new list of Life Peer nominations to the House of Lords, which includes three-time elected Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

According to a statement issued by the British government, King Charles III has approved the appointment of the new Life Peers on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

Following the appointment, Sadiq Khan will become a member of the House of Lords, where he will participate in debates on legislation, national policies, and other important public affairs in the United Kingdom.

Sadiq Khan, who has served three consecutive terms as Mayor of London, is regarded as one of Britain’s most prominent politicians. As a British politician of Pakistani heritage, he has played a significant role in UK politics and was previously awarded a knighthood for his public service.

According to Downing Street, the latest appointments recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions in various fields at the national level.

The House of Lords, the upper chamber of the UK Parliament, currently has around 774 members and is one of the world’s largest legislative chambers. It is responsible for reviewing legislation and debating major national issues.

Political observers say Sadiq Khan’s appointment marks a significant milestone in his political career and is also viewed as an important achievement for the British Pakistani community.
