Karachi (HRNW)- Pakistan’s private airline South Air has officially resumed flight operations, launching services from Karachi Airport and operating a total of eight flights between Karachi, Bahawalpur, Turbat, Islamabad, and Quetta on its first day of operations.
According to reports, South Air has restored air connectivity between Bahawalpur and Turbat after a long gap, while new flights have also been launched from Karachi and Islamabad to Bahawalpur. The airline additionally operated four flights between Karachi, Turbat, and Quetta.
With the launch of the new service, Bahawalpur’s air connectivity with the rest of the country has been restored after three years. Flight Z8-911 departed from Karachi to Turbat and Quetta, while flight Z8-912 is scheduled to return from Quetta via Turbat to Karachi later in the day. Another flight, Z8-942, departed from Karachi to Bahawalpur at 7:40 a.m., after which the same aircraft operated flight Z8-970 from Bahawalpur to Islamabad.
South Air is operating these routes using new ATR aircraft. According to sources, these routes were previously served by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), but PIA suspended flights between Karachi, Bahawalpur, and Islamabad in 2023.
