KARACHI (HRNW): In his first public statement since being removed from office, outgoing Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori stated that no individual holds a constitutional position permanently. Addressing the media after the appointment of Nihal Hashmi as his successor, Tessori defended his tenure and active governance style.
“I was not a deaf, mute, or ‘dummy’ governor, and I never intended to be one,” Tessori remarked. He reminded the public of his oath upon entering the Governor House, where he pledged to be an active and accessible representative of the federation rather than a mere figurehead.
During his term, the Governor House became a hub for various public welfare initiatives, though these activities also drew criticism from political opponents and legal bodies who alleged he was using the office for partisan purposes. Despite the friction surrounding his exit, Tessori extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Governor, Nihal Hashmi, wishing him success in his new role.
The removal of Tessori, a nominee of the MQM-P, has already sparked a political storm, with senior party leaders calling for a review of their alliance with the federal government.
