Fresh Ethnic Clashes Erupt in Manipur as Security Tensions Escalate

Imphal, Manipur (HRNW)- A fresh wave of ethnic violence has erupted in the Indian state of Manipur, with several houses reportedly set on fire in the southern region of Imphal district, raising renewed concerns over law and order.

According to the Indian newspaper The Statesman, the latest violence has further heightened tensions in the region, prompting authorities to deploy a large number of security personnel to prevent the unrest from spreading.

The report states that two individuals, including the head of Hang Jang village, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Indian human rights activist Nandita Haksar criticized the Indian government over its handling of the situation, alleging that it has focused on claims of foreign interference instead of addressing the underlying causes of the violence.

The latest unrest underscores the continuing security and ethnic tensions in Manipur, where clashes have persisted over an extended period.
