UK Transitioning to e-Visa System for Pakistani Visit Visa Applicants

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): The United Kingdom has announced a significant shift in its immigration policy, moving toward an e-Visa system for Pakistani citizens. This digital transition is designed to streamline the visit visa process, making it faster and more efficient for travelers. Under the new framework, successful applicants will no longer receive a physical vignette (sticker) in their passports; instead, the visa will be issued in a digital format sent directly via email.

Travelers will be able to print their digital visa or present it on electronic devices during their journey. This initiative is part of the UK’s broader global strategy to digitize its border and immigration services by the end of 2024–2025, replacing physical immigration documents with digital records. Sources within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that this move will significantly reduce processing times and simplify the documentation burden for Pakistani nationals.

The e-Visa system is expected to eliminate the risks associated with lost or damaged physical documents and reduce the need for applicants to surrender their passports for extended periods during the processing stage. Authorities have encouraged applicants to ensure their contact information is accurate and to keep their digital records updated to reflect their current travel documents.
