According to official data:

  • Lahore reported 21,000 divorce cases — the highest in the province.
  • Faisalabad recorded 14,000 cases.
  • Sheikhupura registered 11,000 cases.
  • Rawalpindi documented 10,000 cases.
  • Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot collectively reported 8,000 cases.
  • Kasur recorded 5,000 cases.
  • Sahiwal and Okara each reported 4,000 cases.
  • Nankana Sahib and Khushab also reported a noticeable increase in divorce filings.

Experts say the rising numbers reflect a combination of economic stress, social intolerance, domestic conflict, and weakening family structures — issues that are becoming increasingly visible yet remain underreported.

Why HRNW Is Raising the Alarm

Human Rights News Worldwide (HRNW), an accredited organization devoted to exposing human rights violations and highlighting neglected social challenges, warns that such rising statistics are a symptom of deeper societal fractures.

These stories often remain hidden — until someone brings them to light.
