FIA Investigation Clarified in Case of Woman’s Sons and Sons-in-Law Killed in Alleged Police Encounters

Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- Additional Sessions Judge Shafqat Shehbaz Raja has clarified the scope of FIA investigations and proceedings in the case concerning a woman’s three sons and two sons-in-law killed in alleged police encounters.

According to the written judgment, the pending complaint is before the Deputy Director Coordination at FIA Headquarters Islamabad, and the Director of FIA will review the investigation and make a decision on merit after examining all evidence. The FIA office in Lahore has been granted full authority to conduct investigations and take action. The court also directed that Sohail Zafar Chattha, head of the CCD, and other officials be proceeded against according to law.

The victim’s family lawyer, Aftab Bajwa, argued for appropriate and prompt action to ensure justice. According to the petitioner, the deceased were initially arrested and transferred to CCD Lahore, then sent to police stations in different districts, where they were allegedly killed in staged encounters.

Analysts at VOC Urdu note that this case highlights alleged unlawful actions within police ranks and serious human rights violations, emphasizing that full FIA investigations are crucial for transparency and justice.
