Karachi (HRNW)-Under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Haider Shah, a meeting was held regarding rabies control, attended by the Secretary Health and Project Director (PD) of the Rabies Control Program.
It was decided that rabies treatment facilities will be available every 10 to 15 kilometers across the province, and all 300 rabies centers in Sindh will be upgraded and made fully operational.
Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah outlined the following measures:
- Rabies centers will be equipped with rabies vaccines and trained staff.
- Building audits of all rabies centers will be completed within 48 hours.
- After the audits, repairs, restoration, and modern equipment will be provided immediately.
- All essential medicines and vaccines for rabies patients will be procured.
- The existing staff will undergo training to make the Rabies Control Program more effective.
- In collaboration with Indus Hospital, medical staff will receive specialized training in rabies treatment.
- A province-wide awareness campaign will be launched on dog bites, rabies, and timely treatment.
The Chief Secretary emphasized that rabies is treatable, and timely medical intervention can save valuable lives.
