Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh High Court: The court heard a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the detention of its workers under MPO-III.
The court rejected the urgent oral request to immediately suspend the MPO-III notification, stating that it will first wait for responses from all parties before making a decision.
The court issued notices to the parties for February 6 and has requested written replies from all sides by the next hearing.
On February 1, the Sindh government had issued the MPO-III notification, ordering the detention of 179 PTI workers. The petition seeks that this notification be declared null and void.
The petition names the Chief Secretary Sindh, Secretary Home Sindh, IG Sindh Police, and other relevant officials as respondents. PTI’s lawyers Ali Tahir and Hasnain Ali Chauhan are representing the petitioners. PTI had also announced a shut-down strike and peaceful protest on February 8.
