Muscat (HRNW)- The first round of US-Iran talks began in Muscat, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaid facilitating the discussions. According to Iranian state media IRNA, Araqchi presented an initial plan to resolve the ongoing impasse, which was conveyed to the US delegation through the Omani minister. Both delegations reviewed each other’s positions, and a second round of consultations was also held with the Omani Foreign Minister. The Omani Ministry emphasized that the Sultanate aims to create a conducive environment for diplomatic and technical negotiations and remains committed to supporting dialogue for a consensual political solution. Regional countries, including Turkey, had also offered mediation earlier, but the talks are now being hosted in Muscat at Iran’s request.
