KP CM Meets World Bank President to Boost Collaboration in Health, Education, Minerals, and Climate Resilience

Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Islamabad to discuss expanding cooperation in health, education, skills development, minerals, energy, and climate resilience. The meeting was also attended by Finance Advisor Mazamil Aslam, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and other senior officials.

CM Afridi emphasized that the KP government values World Bank support, with health and education as top priorities. Significant investments are being made to strengthen the primary healthcare system, and the province is launching the “Ehsaas Maa” program, ensuring comprehensive care from pregnancy to childbirth, with additional support for the birth of girls. The initiative aims to provide universal health coverage for 100% of the province’s population.

He also highlighted efforts to increase climate resilience, respond to natural disaster damages, and ensure local community benefits in the minerals sector, in line with the vision of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The KP government is taking steps to achieve food self-sufficiency, including land development projects in southern districts for productive cultivation.
