Washington (HRNW)- The United States has issued a new and strict warning regarding the airspace around Venezuela.
US President Donald Trump has declared that the airspace over and around Venezuela should be considered a “total closure”, although he did not provide detailed clarification about the nature or scope of the decision.
According to Reuters, the US is increasing pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s government. In a post on Truth Social, President Trump warned airlines, pilots, and anyone allegedly linked to drug or human trafficking to treat the Venezuelan region as a “no-fly zone.”
Venezuela’s Ministry of Information and the US Department of Defense have not yet responded to the latest statement.

US operations against alleged drug-carrying vessels in the Caribbean have intensified in recent months, alongside increasing military activity in the region. Reports also suggest that President Trump has approved covert CIA operations in Venezuela and indicated that ground operations may begin soon.
Just last week, US aviation authorities alerted airlines to a “dangerous situation” over Venezuela due to rising military presence and deteriorating security conditions. As a result, six major international airlines suspended flights, after which Venezuela revoked their operating rights.
The US accuses President Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking — allegations Maduro denies, calling them an attempt by Trump to remove him from power. He asserts that Venezuela’s people and military will resist such actions.
Since September, US forces have conducted at least 21 operations in the Caribbean and Pacific, resulting in the deaths of 83 individuals, according to official reports.
