DR CONGO Justice Stalled for Murdered UN Experts

Congo (HRNW)- Nine years after the murder of UN experts Michael Sharp and Zaida Catalán in the Kasai region, the Congolese National Human Rights Commission is demanding that “masterminds” within the government be held to account. While low-level soldiers were convicted in 2022, evidence of high-level state complicity has been largely ignored, leaving the families of the victims and their Congolese colleagues in a state of “perpetual mourning.”
