World Bank Delegation Reviews “1000 Days Project” Health Infrastructure in Sanghar

SANGHAR (HRNW): A high-level delegation from the World Bank-funded “Thousand Days Project” visited various healthcare facilities in District Sanghar on Friday, February 27, 2026, to oversee progress on vital maternal and child health infrastructure. The delegation included Batool Shaukat (Project In-charge and Social Safeguard Gender Specialist), Sana Siddique Rahmoo (Senior Social Gender Specialist), Ghulam Haider Usmani, and Rabeel Usmani.

The team visited the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Kandiari and Taluka Hospital Sinjhoro, where they met with District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Muhammad Farooq to discuss the current state of medical facilities in the region. Under this ambitious project, several key healthcare buildings will undergo complete reconstruction or extensive renovation:

  • New Construction: RHC Sarhari, RHC Kandiari, Taluka Hospital Sinjhoro, and Taluka Hospital Khipro will receive entirely new buildings. Additionally, 10 Basic Health Units (BHUs) and dispensaries are slated for total reconstruction.

  • Renovation: Taluka Hospital Tando Adam and RHC Shahpur Chakar will undergo comprehensive renovation and upgrading.

DHO Dr. Farooq confirmed that the existing health centers would be temporarily relocated within days to ensure that construction work begins immediately and without interruption. During a community engagement session, project leads Batool Shaukat and Sana Siddique Rahmoo emphasized that modern technology and high-quality materials will be utilized to complete the construction swiftly. Civil Surgeon Dr. Aftab Azam Sriwal and other district officials have pledged full cooperation to ensure the project meets its deadlines, ultimately aiming to improve nutritional and health outcomes for mothers and children in the district.
