Sikh Federation Leader Receives Alleged Death Threats in Ottawa, Police Issue Security Warning

Ottawa (HRNW)- Another Sikh leader in Canada has allegedly received death threats, raising fresh security concerns amid ongoing tensions.

Canadian police have reportedly warned Muninder Singh, head of the Sikh Federation of Canada, about potential threats and advised him to take precautionary measures for his safety and that of his family.

According to a report by Global News, intelligence agencies have identified specific threats directed at Muninder Singh and his relatives. The report further states that alongside slain Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2022, Muninder Singh had also allegedly received threats in the past.

Canadian authorities maintain that investigations are ongoing into foreign interference, disinformation campaigns, and pressure tactics within the country. Reports also suggest that evidence has emerged indicating attempts by certain criminal groups to target political opponents.

In this broader context, references have been made to an investigation in the United States concerning an alleged conspiracy against Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. However, the Indian government has previously denied such allegations.

Analysts believe that these developments have further strained diplomatic relations between Canada and India, while security agencies continue to closely monitor the evolving situation.
