Karachi Traffic Police Unveils Comprehensive Management Plan for Ramadan

KARACHI (HRNW): The Karachi Traffic Police has finalized a strategic traffic management plan to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles across the city during the holy month of Ramadan. DIG Traffic Karachi announced that a strict ban on the movement of water tankers will be enforced daily from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM to reduce congestion during the peak pre-iftar hours. To prioritize the safety and convenience of commuters, the department has launched a crackdown against illegal parking, sidewalk encroachments, pushcarts, and rickshaws that obstruct main arteries and market areas.

The DIG further emphasized a “zero-tolerance policy” regarding unauthorized vehicles, specifically targeting motorcycles and cars without registration plates. Under the new guidelines, Qingqi rickshaws are strictly prohibited from 26 designated routes, and all types of rickshaws will be restricted from entering major markets during peak shopping hours. To discourage obstructive parking, traffic officials have been instructed to chain the wheels of motorcycles found in double or triple-parked formations. This effective duty plan aims to facilitate citizens in reaching their homes safely and on time for Iftar while maintaining order in the city’s busiest commercial hubs.
