Karachi Police Thwart Contract Killing Plot; Medical Store Employee Arrested

KARACHI (HRNW): The Pak Colony police have successfully foiled an alleged contract killing attempt by arresting a medical store employee and a teenage shooter before they could carry out a hit on a local doctor. The arrested suspects have been identified as Yunus, an employee at a medical store, and 17-year-old Usman Manzur, who was allegedly hired as a “marksman” for the task. According to investigative authorities, Yunus had offered a bounty of Rs 500,000 to have Dr. Abdullah, a practitioner in the Site B Sher Shah area, assassinated.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed that the murder was planned at a specific location near the doctor’s clinic. The primary suspect, Yunus, confessed that he harbored a long-standing grudge against Dr. Abdullah because the physician frequently advised his patients to purchase medicines from other outlets rather than Yunus’s pharmacy, causing him financial loss. The hired shooter, Usman, admitted that they intended to target the doctor at approximately 11:00 PM as he walked home from his clinic.

Police officials stated that a formal case has been registered against both suspects and further investigations are underway to determine if they were involved in any other criminal activities. The timely intervention by the police has been hailed as a significant success in preventing a violent crime sparked by professional jealousy and personal enmity.
