Islamabad (HRNW)- Human rights activist Iman Zainab Mazari Hazir on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s decision not to grant interim relief in the controversial social media post case.
The appeal, filed under Article 185(3) of the Constitution through senior advocate Faisal Siddiqui, was filed jointly by Iman Mazari’s husband Abdul Hadi Muhammad Ali. The petition has taken the position that the decision of the Islamabad High Court is contrary to facts and law, hence it should be declared null and void to the extent that it refused to grant interim relief to stay the trial.
The dispute began when on August 12, 2025, the Assistant Director (Innocence-Gathering Officer) of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad — respondent no. 2 — filed a complaint against the petitioners at the FIA’s Cyber Crime Reporting Center.
According to sources, the petition filed in the Supreme Court has requested that the proceedings of the ongoing case against Iman Mazari be temporarily stopped and the High Court order be declared null and void.
