Jamaat-e-Islami to Hold Protest Sit-Ins Over Traffic Deaths, E-Challan System, and Government Inaction

Karachi (HRNW)- Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to hold protest sit-ins at 13 locations across the city today against the increasing number of deaths in heavy traffic accidents in the city, the e-challan system and the government’s attitude.

According to the announcement, the protest sit-ins will be held at 5 pm on important highways and central locations of the city. The aim of the sit-ins is to increase pressure on the government to improve the traffic system, eliminate illegal challans and ensure the safety of citizens.

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Muneem Zafar Khan will address the central sit-in at Noorani Kabab House Chowrangi, Shahrah-e-Quaideen. Other locations include Star Gate Shahrah-e-Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, University Road, Dawood Chowrangi, Korangi Crossing, Tibet Center, Meteorology, Power House Chowrangi, Hub River Road, Paracha Chowk Shershah, Hyderi North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad No. 10, Sohrab Goth and Orangi Town No. 5.

On the other hand, the Sindh Chief Minister’s recent statement said that “extortion will not be tolerated.” The question from the civic circles is that if extortion is not tolerated, will encroachment and other crimes be tolerated? Citizens say that the government will have to take practical steps to improve law and order and the traffic system.
