IHC Hears Degree Dispute Case Involving Former Judge Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri

Islamabad (HRNW)- The Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard the degree dispute case, in which Registrar Karachi University Imran Siddiqui informed the court that according to the principal of Islamia Law College, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri was not his student.

According to the registrar, Tariq Jahangiri faced a three-year ban from the Fairmen’s Committee after he was caught cheating. Despite being eligible to re-sit the exam in 1992, he used a fake enrolment form. The LLB Part-I examination was given in the name of Tariq Jahangiri son of Muhammad Akram and in Part-II in the name of Tariq Mahmood son of Qazi Muhammad Akram. Apart from this, he also took the exam using a fake enrolment number.

The registrar told the court that Islamia Law College also does not have any record of the Part-II form. Tariq Jahangiri cleared all the papers in 1990 despite the ban from the Fairmen’s Committee. Islamia College officials confirmed that the syndicate announced the cancellation of Tariq Jahangiri’s degree based on the findings.
