Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has announced a new SOP to facilitate citizens who have purchased vehicles but are unable to contact the seller or the seller’s biometric verification is unavailable.
Under the new procedure, if the seller is unavailable for biometric verification or cannot be reached, the vehicle ownership can be legally transferred to the buyer through the following steps:
- Written application by the buyer
- Proof of purchase (sale agreement, receipt, etc.)
- Advertisement in a national newspaper
- Indemnity bond / affidavit
- Buyer’s NADRA biometric verification within 15 days
- Complete physical verification of the vehicle
- Submission of original documents and photographs
- Issuance of two notices to the recorded owner
According to the Excise Department, once all steps are completed, the vehicle ownership will be officially transferred to the buyer with the approval of the concerned Director.
Citizens have been advised to contact their nearest Motor Registration Authority (MRA) for guidance and to follow the official SOP to avoid any legal complications.
