Jamaat-e-Islami Condemns Land Grab Attempt in Karachi, Holds Emergency Press Conference

Karachi (HRNW)- Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership held an urgent press conference at B60 Block 13D1, behind Khalifa-e-Rashideen Mosque, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, to address a recent attempted land grab and express solidarity with the victims.

Speaking at the event, Muneem Zafar Khan, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, alongside Opposition Leader MCC, Advocate Saifuddin, criticized the land mafia for forcibly attempting to occupy private property with the assistance of law enforcement. According to JI, 50 to 60 individuals illegally entered the property last night, throwing household items outside, in what the party called a state-supported act of terrorism and hooliganism.

JI leaders highlighted that such incidents are becoming increasingly common across Karachi, including areas like Clifton, Shah Latif, and North Nazimabad, where parks and public spaces are being illegally occupied. They also alleged municipal complicity, naming Mayor Murtaza Wahab as being involved in the takeover of parks and public property.

The party condemned the 17-year tenure of the provincial PPP government, stating it has failed to protect citizens’ rights and has enabled land grabbers through official support. JI also emphasized that the legal profession exists to deliver justice and protect citizens from oppression, calling for accountability for those using “black coats” to enforce illegal occupation.

JI has established an Action Committee Desk at Idara Noor Haq to monitor the situation and mobilize public participation. Leaders urged citizens to join their offices to stand against oppression and protect property, parks, and sports grounds. They vowed to expose those attempting to divide communities along ethnic lines and pursue legal action against land mafias across Karachi.

The press conference was attended by Naeem Akhtar, Amir JI East District; Dr. Fawad, Town Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal; Vice Chairman Ibrahim Siddiqui; Secretary Information Zahid Askari; and Senior Deputy Secretary Sohaib Ahmed, among others.
