Sanaa, Yemen (HRNW)– Dozens of United Nations and international humanitarian staff have been detained arbitrarily in northern Yemen for over a year.

These workers were captured while providing lifesaving assistance to civilians in one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. Reports indicate that 23 UN personnel and 5 NGO staff are still held, with two already deceased in detention.
The detention of humanitarian staff has severely disrupted delivery of food, medical care, and shelter to millions in need. Human rights organizations stress that aid workers must never be targeted and call for their immediate and unconditional release.
