Karachi (HRNW)– Sports Department of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) organized a special ceremony to honor the remarkable achievements of its cricketers, Mirza Saad Baig and Sayedda Uroob Shah, who excelled in national tournaments. Student of the Sir Syed University, syeda Uroob Shah was awarded the prestigious title of Player of the Tournament at the National Women’s One Day Tournament, receiving a cash prize of 2 lakh. Meanwhile, the other SSUET student, Mirza Saad Baig garnered accolades as the Best Player, Best Batter, and Best Wicket Keeper of the tournament at the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
In addition to the awards ceremony, a significant meeting with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) was also held, presided over by the Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan, emphasizing the importance of supporting young athletes in their pursuit of excellence. Chief guest was Sr. Vice Chairman ABAD, Afzal Hameed.

Appreciating the remarkable achievements of two of SSUET outstanding cricketers, Mirza Saad Baig and syeda Uroob Shah, Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan said that their dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent have brought honor not only to themselves but also to our university and the entire community. Both of them earned the title of the best player of the tournament and this accolade is a testament to their relentless pursuit of excellence and their unwavering commitment to the game. These honors reflect their versatility and dedication to the sport, showcasing ability to excel in multiple facets of the game.
Chief Guest Afzal Hameed said that Promoting sports in Pakistan is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of individuals, communities, and institutions alike. It is necessary to create an environment where sports thrive, where youth can pursue their dreams, and where Pakistan can shine on the global sports stage.
During this meeting, Shahbaz Senior announced the donation of 25 hockey sticks to the SSUET Hockey team, reinforcing the federation’s commitment to nurturing hockey talent at the university.
The Secretary General of PHF, Rana Mujahid, pledged its support for sports events of Sir Syed University, highlighting a collaborative effort to enhance the sporting landscape in the region. He lauded the extra ordinary support of Sir Syed University in promoting sports. SSUET can be taken as a role model for other universities to follow. He was of view that this partnership would provide students with the resources and opportunities necessary to excel in their athletic endeavors.
