Islamabad – Pakistan (HRNW)- Authorities in Islamabad have arrested an Afghan national who was impersonating a U.S. Embassy official within the city’s Diplomatic Enclave. The suspect, identified as Harith, was apprehended while entering the enclave with two women in a vehicle through Gate No. 2, carrying a fake U.S. Embassy identification card.
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies had previously identified the suspect and were monitoring his activities. The arrest was conducted with coordinated support from intelligence officials.
Harith is reportedly wanted in multiple fraud cases and has also faced complaints lodged with the U.S. Embassy. Following his arrest, he has been transferred to Secretariat Police Station for further investigation.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about security within diplomatic zones and the potential misuse of official identities for fraudulent purposes.
