Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah Meets Builders Association Vows Action Against Extortion and Land Grabs

Karachi – Pakistan (HRNW)Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met with a delegation from the Association of Builders & Developers (ABD), led by Hasan Bukhshi, to discuss rising concerns over land encroachments and extortion in Karachi. The delegation handed over extortion notes and contact numbers of individuals allegedly orchestrating these activities, some reportedly from abroad.

CM Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed that illegal land grabs and extortion will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed the police and civil administration to take immediate action on all complaints received from builders and developers. “We have eradicated extortionists from this city before, and we will do it again,” he said, emphasizing coordination with the federal government to target extortion networks operating from overseas.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Langar, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Principal Secretary to the CM Agha Wasif, Secretary Home Iqbal Memon, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, and other senior officials.

Representatives of ABD reported that in the past year, approximately 10 extortion cases were documented. Police informed the delegation about progress, including the arrest of 50 extortionists and the killing of six criminals in encounters. Additionally, three individuals linked to overseas extortion operations have already been apprehended.

CM Murad Ali Shah instructed that all complaints from ABD members be addressed promptly, ensuring swift legal action. He also promised a personal visit to the ABD office to strengthen communication and oversight between the government and the construction sector.

The ABD delegation thanked the CM for his personal attention and expressed confidence that government measures would restore builders’ and investors’ trust in Karachi’s construction industry.
