Lahore (HRNW)- Good news has come for electricity consumers, as a result of promoting the competitive process, the prices of smart meters of the discos have been reduced by up to 40 percent. According to Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari, this move is expected to save about 150 billion rupees at the national level.

The Energy Minister said that the price of a three-phase smart meter has been reduced from 45 thousand rupees to 25 thousand rupees, while the price of a single-phase smart meter has also been reduced by 7 thousand rupees. He said that the government has made positive changes in the rules of the Pakistan Engineering Council, after which international companies have fully participated in the competitive process and the obstacles faced in the supply of meters have been removed.

According to Owais Leghari, due to the reduction in the prices of smart meters, electricity consumers will have to pay less in the form of demand notices.
