11 Stabbed in Walmart Attack, Suspect in Custody as Authorities Launch Investigation

Michigan (HRNW)- An unidentified man stabbed at least 11 people in the US state of Michigan. According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation, Michigan authorities said that 11 people were stabbed at a Walmart supermarket, and a suspect was taken into custody after the incident.

Hospital officials said that 11 injured people were being treated. Munson Medical Center said on social media that its emergency department is currently experiencing a higher number of patients than usual. Three people are undergoing surgery. Footage posted online shows multiple police and ambulance units in the Walmart parking lot.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is investigating a multiple stabbing incident at a Walmart in Traverse City. Sheriff Michael Shea told reporters the suspect is a Michigan resident and used a folding knife-style weapon. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said federal officials are responding to provide necessary assistance to local authorities. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said she is in contact with law enforcement about the horrific news.
