Kannada Actor Harish Roy Passes Away at 55 After Battle with Cancer

Mumbai (HRNW)- Harish Roy, a well-known actor of India’s Kannada film industry, has died of cancer at the age of 55.

According to Indian broadcaster NDTV, Harish Roy had been battling thyroid cancer for a long time and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangalore, where he breathed his last on Thursday. His disease had spread to his stomach, due to which his body became very weak.

Harish Roy gained fame for his role as Don “Roy” opposite Shivaj Kumar in the film “Om” (1995) and as Uncle “Khasham” in the blockbuster film “KGF”.

He said that the death of Kannada cinema’s famous villain actor Harish Roy is a very sad incident, his departure after his struggle with cancer has deprived the film industry of a capable and influential artist.

DK Shivakumar further said that Harish Roy showed fantastic acting in the films Om, Hello Yama, KGF and KGF 2 and grabbed everyone’s attention, I pray that his soul rests in peace and God gives his family and loved ones the courage to bear this grief.

Film journey and achievements Harish Roy worked in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films during his illustrious career. His famous films include Om, Samra, Bangalore Underworld, Raj Bahadur, Sanju Weds Geeta, both parts of the KGF series. However, the film Om and the KGF franchise took him to new heights of public popularity, where his characters are still remembered by fans today.
