Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh High Court has enforced the Constitutional Benches Sindh High Court Ordinance 2025, bringing major changes to the handling of Article 199 cases.
Key points of the ordinance:
- All Article 199 cases across Sindh will be heard exclusively by Constitutional Benches.
- Pending Article 199 cases will be transferred to these benches.
- Judges will be appointed by the Judicial Commission, with the senior-most judge among them serving as head of the bench.
- Judges may recuse themselves on a case-by-case basis in case of conflicts of interest.
- Separate registries will be established for these benches.
- Cases will follow the first-filed, first-heard principle, while urgent cases will be scheduled for hearing within 14 days.
