Pakistan Foils Indian Spy Plot — Fisherman Arrested for Working with Indian Intelligence

Islamabad (HRNW)- Pakistan’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies have foiled another Indian espionage attempt by arresting a fisherman who was working for Indian intelligence agencies, Information Minister Atta Tarar and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry revealed on Saturday.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad, Atta Tarar said that Ijaz Mallah, a Pakistani fisherman, was detained by Indian authorities in September this year and taken to an undisclosed location, where he was coerced into working for them.

“He was lured with promises of financial rewards and threatened with imprisonment of up to three years if he refused. After his release, Indian intelligence sent him back to Pakistan with specific spying tasks,” Tarar stated.

According to the minister, Mallah was instructed to purchase uniforms of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Rangers, as well as local SIM cards and phone bills, to assist Indian intelligence in their subversive activities.

Tarar added that Pakistani intelligence agencies began closely monitoring Mallah’s movements and arrested him before he could return to India. During his arrest, security personnel recovered uniforms, SIM cards, matchboxes, lighters, and other items intended to be delivered to Indian handlers.

A video confession of Mallah was also released, in which he admitted that Indian agents had detained him at sea and threatened to imprison him if he refused to cooperate.

Minister Tarar said the arrest proved that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies remain vigilant in defending the nation’s sovereignty and exposing India’s hostile operations.

He further remarked that India’s growing frustration stemmed from Pakistan’s diplomatic and strategic successes, leading it to spread false propaganda and carry out covert operations.

“After the failure of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ India started new propaganda campaigns to malign Pakistan’s image,” Tarar said. “But these fabricated claims have been exposed before the world, and Pakistan continues to gain respect on the international stage.”

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that Mallah had been instructed by Indian handlers to acquire SIM cards from specific telecom companies. He praised the Pakistani media and intelligence community for safeguarding the country’s reputation and countering India’s misinformation efforts globally.
