Tehran (HRNW)- Israeli media have claimed that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have seized an oil tanker off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.
According to Israeli media, the Revolutionary Guards have confirmed the seizure of the oil tanker, but have not given a concrete reason for it.
The Revolutionary Guards said that the oil tanker was carrying petrochemicals to Singapore and that after inspection it was revealed that the ship was traveling with unauthorized cargo.
However, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards did not provide the nature of the cargo or further details.
According to the British Maritime Trade Operations and Security firm, the ship that was identified is a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker.
The firm added that the oil tanker had departed from Ajman in the United Arab Emirates for Singapore.
According to the ship’s tracking data, the tanker suddenly turned towards Iran during the journey, for no apparent reason.
There has been no statement from the ship’s Greek owners yet, and it is not yet clear how many people were on board the oil tanker.
