Trump Announces 25% Tariff on India, Cites Trade Barriers and Ties with Russia

Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has once again sharply criticized India and announced the imposition of a 25% tariff and additional penalty on it.

In his post on his social networking platform Truth Social, Trump said that India is a good friend of the United States but we have done very little business with it because India’s tariffs are very high and the non-financial trade barriers it imposes are the most severe and unacceptable.

Trump has further said that in addition, India buys most of its weapons from Russia and is currently the largest buyer of Russian energy along with China, all this is happening at a time when the world wants Russia to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine.

The US President said that for these reasons, a 25% tariff will be imposed on India from August 1 and additional penalties will also be imposed.
