LAHORE (HRNW)– A shocking case of alleged workplace harassment, sexual misconduct, and criminal silence has shaken the Punjab Police department.
A brave female sub-inspector, posted in Lahore, has accused two senior officers—one of them a decorated CSP officer of repeatedly harassing and humiliating her. Despite submitting concrete evidence, she says, no action has been taken.
The case raises a crucial question: Will Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz who declared women harassment as a ‘red line’ now step forward to uphold her word?
In her written complaint, the sub-inspector detailed that CSP officer Munib Ahmed sent her his bank card and demanded a personal relationship.
“I submitted all proof to the department, but they refused to act just because he’s a CSS officer,” she stated.
Her distress deepened when SP Munaza, serving at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines, humiliated her publicly and allegedly favored the accused officer after receiving a reference call.
“I was made to wait outside for two hours while she served him tea inside,” the sub-inspector wrote.
She also named DIG Captain Liaqat Malik, accusing him of harassment and of demanding private meetings.
She claims to possess phone call evidence, including calls from private numbers.
Despite repeated complaints to senior command, even the IG of Police has not acted.
In a chilling conclusion, she stated, “I seriously want to commit suicide.”
This is no ordinary complaint. It’s a test case for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has boldly claimed that harassment of women is a red line in her government.
This case directly challenges that red line.
If no action is taken now, it will send a devastating message to every woman serving in Punjab’s public sector.
