Similarly, Section 144 will also be applicable on the purchase and sale of sacrificial animals at any place other than approved cattle markets. The ban on the display of arms and ammunition will also remain in force.
These restrictions will be in force from Thursday, June 5 to Wednesday, June 11, by the Punjab Home Secretary under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898.
The Home Department says that this decision has been taken in view of the protection of human lives, establishment of law and order and environmental improvement. The above activities not only pose a threat to public safety and public health but also cause anxiety among citizens.
No banned organization will be allowed to collect sacrificial skins on the occasion of Eid. Only organizations registered with the Punjab Charity Commission will be able to receive the skins.
