Government Reports 36% Surge in Tax Collection, Reduced Fiscal Deficit and Boost in IT and Auto Sectors

Islamabad (HRNW)- The government has collected 36 percent more taxes than last year.

The Ministry of Finance has released an economic outlook report, which states that the government collected 36.7 percent more taxes this year than last year, while the fiscal deficit has reduced to 2.6 percent.

According to the report, IT exports performed well and exports increased by 21.1 percent, while the automobile sector grew by another 95.8 percent.

According to the report of the Ministry of Finance, imports have increased by another 11.8 percent and the trade deficit was recorded at $21.3 billion, while inflation decreased to 0.3 percent in April.

According to the report, prices in the education and health sectors continued to increase, while Rs409.4 billion was distributed to the poor under the Benazir Income Support Program.
