Khan Younis Hospital Receives 15 More Palestinian Bodies Under US-Brokered Ceasefire Agreement

Khan Younis (HRNW)- Nasr Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis has confirmed that it has received the bodies of 15 more Palestinian martyrs under the US-brokered ceasefire agreement.

According to the AFP news agency, hospital officials say that a total of 285 Palestinian bodies have been received under the agreement so far. These bodies were returned in exchange for the body of Israeli soldier Itay Chan, who was handed over to Israel by Hamas on Tuesday.

According to the terms of the agreement, whenever Israel returns the body of an Israeli hostage, it hands over the bodies of 15 Palestinian martyrs to the Palestinian authorities in exchange.

According to the report, at the beginning of the ceasefire, Hamas held 48 hostages, of whom 20 were alive and 28 were dead. The group later released all the living hostages and handed over the bodies of 21 dead prisoners to Israel.

Israeli authorities allege that Hamas is deliberately delaying the return of the bodies of the dead hostages, but according to Hamas, the process is slow because many bodies are buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings.

Hamas has appealed to international mediators and the Red Cross to provide the necessary machinery and personnel to recover the bodies.

It should be remembered that 68,875 Palestinians have been martyred and 170,679 people have been injured in the two-year war, while most of the Gaza population has been displaced.
