Balochistan Health Secretary Transferred After Exposing Massive Corruption — A Blow to Reform and Justice

Quetta (HRNW) In a shocking move, the Secretary of Health, Balochistan, Daud Khan Khilji, has been transferred reportedly due to differences of opinion after daring to open files related to billions of rupees in corruption within the provincial health department.

This decision sends a deeply troubling and disappointing message from the Government of Balochistan — that even the health sector, one of the most sensitive and vital areas for public welfare, has now fallen victim to political revenge, favoritism, and personal power struggles.

According to reliable sources, the transfer is not part of any reform or accountability process, but rather clear retaliation against an officer who took a stand against corruption. The provincial government, itself on shaky ground, appears more focused on protecting personal interests than on fixing the collapsing healthcare system.

Meanwhile, critical issues remain ignored:

  • Billions of rupees in corruption scandals buried,
  • Medicines disappearing from hospitals,
  • Basic health centers in remote areas in ruins,
  • And a deliberate attempt to silence those exposing the truth.

When Secretary Khilji reportedly began investigating the corruption files, he was swiftly removed for “defying” the minister — a move widely seen as a warning to all honest officers: “Follow orders, hide corruption, or face removal.”

The result is predictable — no officer will now dare to initiate reforms; instead, flattery and compliance will dominate the bureaucracy. The already fragile health system will deteriorate even further.

This development is not a sign of reform, but another official stamp on the collapse of healthcare in Balochistan. The province already has the highest maternal and child mortality rates in Pakistan; hospitals lack beds and medicines, yet the government continues to claim it is “taking action” by reshuffling officials — a move that appears to be nothing more than political drama.

If the government truly cares for the people, it must bring the corrupt to justice, recover looted funds, and ensure uninterrupted medical supplies, instead of making honest officers scapegoats.

The public now clearly understands: this is not change — it’s the same corruption and incompetence, only with a new face and a new label.
