Islamabad (HRNW) — In Pakistan, verbally abusing one’s wife, children, or any household member has officially been declared a crime, as the National Assembly passed the Domestic Violence Bill 2025.
Under the new law, keeping one’s wife in a household with others against her will is now a punishable offense. Likewise, making false accusations against any household member or neglecting the care and wellbeing of one’s spouse, children, or dependents will also be treated as criminal acts.

The bill was presented in the National Assembly by Sharmila Faruqi.
