Massacre in Sudan’s El Fasher: RSF Fighters Accused of Atrocities as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

Khartoum (HRNW)- Witnesses who fled the Sudanese city of El Fasher have revealed that fighters from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed children in front of their parents, separated families, and prevented civilians from moving to safer areas during their capture of the city.

According to international news agencies, mass killings, sexual violence, looting, and kidnappings continue in El Fasher. The United Nations said that more than 65,000 people have left the city so far, but tens of thousands are still trapped.

German diplomat Johann Weidefel described the current situation as “apocalyptic,” saying that it is becoming the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.

According to witnesses, fighters separated civilians based on age, ethnicity, and gender, and many were held for ransom. According to reports, hundreds of civilians have been killed in the past few days alone, while some estimates put the number at more than 2,000.

Satellite images have shown dozens of mass graves and bodies in El Fasher. According to a Yale University research institute, the massacre is still ongoing.

The ongoing civil war in Sudan has now divided the country into eastern and western parts. According to the United Nations, the war has displaced more than 12 million people and killed tens of thousands, while severe shortages of food and medicine have created a humanitarian catastrophe.
