ATC Issues Notices in Farhan Ghani Torture Case, Questions Legality of Police Relief

Karachi (HRNW)- The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued notices to the accused in the report regarding the release of Chanesar Town Chairman Farhan Ghani and others in the torture case against government employees, clarifying that a decision will be taken on the report in accordance with the law.

A case of violence and intimidation against government employees was heard in Town ATC Karachi against Chairman Farhan Ghani and others. During this, the investigation officer and the prosecutor appeared in court. The investigation officer presented a report regarding the release of the accused in court. During the hearing, the investigation officer presented a report regarding the bond, on which the court inquired where the accused were.

The court remarked that the police had given relief to the accused, it remains to be seen whether 497 is made in this case or not. On the court’s inquiry, the investigation officer said that a bond of Rs 1 million has been taken from the accused, the investigation officer presented a report regarding the bond. On this, the court said that it is written in this report that the guarantor will present the accused on the 30th, where are the accused? Why were they not presented?

The court said that if the investigating officer had any understanding of the law, the surety’s bail would have been confiscated today. The court will see whether the powers exercised by the investigating officer are in accordance with the law or not. The court issued notices to the accused on the report under Section 497 regarding the release of the accused and ordered them to be produced before the court again.
