Punjab Govt Imposes Heavy New Traffic Fines, 300% Increase on Overspeeding

Lahore (HRNW) The Punjab government has introduced new fines for violating traffic rules. A fine of Rs 2,000 will be imposed on motorcycles and Rs 5,000 on cars for speeding. Fines for cars for breaking traffic signals will range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000.

The fines for overspeeding have been increased by 300 percent. Driving without a fitness certificate can attract a fine of Rs 100,000 or imprisonment. The challan document will now be completely electronic and seat belts will be mandatory for those sitting in the front seat.
