Karachi man arrested for tying dog to car, dragging it

Karachi (HRNW)  A man was arrested in Karachi for animal abuse on Wednesday.

Footage of the man dragging a dog tied to his car went viral on social media and drew harsh condemnation. Animal rights activists and groups called for action against the driver of the car, a white Toyota Corolla.

The incident reportedly occurred on Siraj-ud-Daula Road near Alamgir Mosque in Karachi.

Hours after the video went viral, the AIGP of operations, Dr Assad Malhi, announced on Twitter that the man had been arrested.

He said the East SSP had taken action and the Ferozabad police had located the man by tracing his licence plate, which was visible in the video.

The driver has been arrested and a case lodged against him. He had tied the dog to the back of his car with a rope and was dragging it, confirmed Dr Malhi.
