Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- According to the latest report from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), weekly inflation in the country has increased for the second consecutive week, rising by 0.25% within the span of seven days. This uptick brings the annual inflation rate to 3.87%. The report indicates a mixed market trend where the prices of 13 essential items increased, 13 items decreased, and 25 remained unchanged. Significant price hikes were noted for tomatoes, which rose by Rs. 18 per kg, a 20 kg bag of wheat flour which increased by Rs. 76.78, and eggs, which saw a rise of Rs. 7 per dozen. Additionally, the cost of an LPG cylinder for domestic use jumped by Rs. 240.59, while prices for firewood, sugar, and powdered milk also trended upward. Conversely, consumers saw some relief as potato and onion prices dropped by Rs. 3 per kg, chicken decreased by Rs. 7.44 per kg, and the prices of salt, jaggery (gur), rice, and various pulses (Mash and Masoor) also recorded a decline. The PBS stated that these fluctuations are reflective of current economic conditions and standard market supply-and-demand dynamics.
