GENEVA (HRNW) – The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) will convene its 61st regular session in Geneva from February 23 to April 2, 2026. This 5-week session is expected to be one of the most contentious in recent history, focusing on the human rights implications of the U.S. withdrawal from 31 UN bodies and the escalating conflict in Northern Syria. Additionally, the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group will present findings for several nations, including Austria, Australia, and Lebanon, assessing their compliance with international human rights standards.
