The experts argue this move violates international human rights standards related to fair treatment, due process, and protections for vulnerable populations — notably children at risk of trafficking and abuse. Following legal challenges, some funding was temporarily restored, but experts insist long-term policy changes are needed to uphold global child-rights commitments.
